Tadeáš Podracký (b. 1989, lives and works in Prague) is a sculptor whose practice explores the intersection of material experimentation, speculative design, and narrative form. Working primarily in intricately carved wood, Podracký creates sculptural objects that evoke fictional artifacts – vestiges of alternative histories or imagined futures. Rooted in an early language of raw, gestural expression, his work has evolved into refined, organic forms. Through a rigorous commitment to making, he merges intuitive handcraft, digital technologies, and symbolic construction to question how form can embody meaning beyond utility. Podracký’s objects inhabit the space between fiction and function, appearing to have grown over time or emerged through ritual. His practice offers glimpses into parallel realities – where the boundaries between the natural and the invented, the past and the speculative, dissolve. He holds an MA in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven and an MA from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. He has also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
